$1 Million Alfond Challenge

Your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by the Peter Alfond 25th Anniversary Challenge grant of $1 million, given in September 2008 by Peter Alfond to salute Kripalu’s 25 years in the Berkshires. In order to meet the challenge, 25% of gifts given need to come from new and increased gifts. We urge Kripalu guests who have never given to us to make their first gift, knowing that it will be matched dollar for dollar. Similarly, we ask our wonderful Kripalu donors to consider this challenge the perfect impetus to make a stretch gift that will be doubled in its impact.

The Jeff Walker Challenge Grant

Kripalu has received a challenge grant from Jeff Walker, a supporter and admirer of the groundbreaking research that is being sponsored by the Institute for Extraordinary Living (IEL). Jeff is giving the IEL $50,000 in 2009 and 2010, which we need to match with $150,000 each year.

The IEL has forged ahead in some remarkable ways this year, making Kripalu the home for top yoga research in the country. This year alone, institute studies focused on the effects of yoga on stressed high school students, people trying to lose weight, veterans returning from Iraq, state troopers, and some of this country’s leading musicians, at both the Boston Conservatory and Tanglewood Music Center.
