Financial Aid for Kripalu Training Programs

Kripalu is committed to making its training programs accessible to anyone seeking to enhance their life and realize their human potential, regardless of background or financial status. Scholarships are made possible by the generous support of Kripalu’s patrons and donors.

Submitting an application for a scholarship does not guarantee that you will receive one. Our ability to offer direct financial aid is limited by a finite pool of funds and many requests for support. This is why all scholarship awards are partial. The housing available for scholarship recipients is dormitory accommodations.

eligibility

The basis for determining financial need is your annual household income. The table below shows the base income levels that would qualify for a scholarship. If your annual household income exceeds the levels listed below, please give additional information on your application as to why you are asking for an exception to these income levels.

# of people in household  maximum gross household income
1    $41,600
2    $56,000
3    $70,400
4    $84,800
5    $99,600

due dates

Scholarship applications for Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training (KYTT), Kripalu School of Massage (KSM), and Kripalu School of Ayurveda (KSA) are due three months prior to the start date of the program for which you wish to enroll. It is important to send in your program application for the training program you wish to attend prior to or with your scholarship application, as we cannot consider you for a scholarship until you have been accepted into the program.

scholarship amounts

Scholarships are applied to both tuition and dormitory housing and generally range from 20 to 60%. The average scholarship recipient receives a 40% scholarship. To receive a scholarship of more then 40%, the applicant must demonstrate eligibility for either a Diversity or Merit scholarship.

diversity fund

The Kripalu Diversity Fund was created to encourage inclusiveness and access for individuals in a wide variety of unique situations, including those from underserved populations. If you wish to be considered for a Diversity Scholarship, be sure to complete the Diversity Scholarship section on the application.

merit scholarships

Merit Scholarships are available to those applicants who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to service in their current endeavors and for whom the training will enhance those endeavors. If you wish to be considered for a Merit Scholarship, be sure to complete the Merit Scholarship section on the application and attach at least two letters of reference to the application. For yoga teacher training candidates, one of these letters must be from your Kripalu Yoga teacher and one from an organization that you have approached or are currently working with for whom you plan to provide a service.

educational financing

Educational financing in the form of student loans is available through SLM Financial, a Sallie Mae Company for those pursuing a Kripalu training program at Kripalu Center. Please contact SLM Financial for more information or to apply for a loan. You can be notified very quickly online about whether or not you are eligible for an educational loan. Loan interest rates start at Prime and go up from there, depending on your credit rating. SLM recommends getting a cosigner, whether or not one is necessary, as it can significantly reduce the interest rate.
